About

About

The Manning area is filled with bountiful fields of wheat, barley, and peas. We are right on the main travel route for migratory birds so usually our mornings and evenings are action packed! Never a dull moment! We have an amazing number of resident Canada Geese and Mallards and also hundreds of thousands of birds that migrate and nest in our stubbled fields. We head out early in the morning to set up our top of the line bird decoys and blinds to prepare for our morning hunt! If we do not limit out in the mornings, we will be back in the blinds for an afternoon/evening hunt.

To take the experience to another level, we use the very best (and cutest) retrieving Labradors! Quinn is our main man, while our pup Merle is undergoing training. Quinn takes charge out there and is overwhelmed with the amount of bird action! These dogs are one of a kind, thanks to Revilo Kennels. Check out their site at www.revilokennels.com.

Not only will you have an amazing waterfowl hunting experience, you will also get to stay in the beautiful Sunny Valley Adventure Lodge! After a morning/evening hunt, you can head back to the lodge to enjoy a home cooked meal, gorgeous deck views, a soak in the hot tub, a game of pool, and just enjoy the beauty of the lodge itself!

How to get here

If you plan on taking the meat home from your harvested animal, driving would be your best option. Our hunting camp is located 1.5 hours north of Manning. Detailed directions will be given to you in your hunters package upon signing your contract.

The quickest route to get here would be to fly into Grande Prairie and rent a vehicle there and drive 2.5 hours north.

Rent A Vehicle

To rent a vehicle we recommend Grande Prairie Airport GPA Car Rentals. You can visit their website URL here https://grandeprairieairport.com/ground-transportation/car-rentals/

We highly recommend you buy travel insurance when booking your hunt with us just in case of an emergency. We do not provide refunds.

Transporting and meat care

If you plan on driving here with your own vehicle, we recommend you bring a chest freezer in the back of your pickup to transport the meat back with you. If you do not want to take the meat, you will be responsible for the processing fees and we will donate the meat to a local family in need.

All hunters must have an active Wildlife Identification Number (WiN) before purchasing any license. To register for a WIN please visit www.AlbertaRELM.com

Trophy Care

Upon harvesting your big game, the guides will field dress, cape, and quarter your animal and prepare the hide for taxidermy. We can give recommendations for taxidermists in the area.

Cumstoms and gun registration

Upon signing a contract, we will give you a Hunters Information Package with all the information needed for your hunt. This includes the proper paperwork you will need to cross the border with your firearms. You will be required to fill out the Non-Resident Firearm Declaration Form to bring your firearm into Canada. DO NOT sign the declaration form before you reach customs, the officer needs to witness your signature.

Alcohol

Alcohol in camp is permitted in moderation; any abuse can terminate your hunt early. There are 2 liquor stores located in our community.

Possession limit

Alberta has a liberal bag limit of 8 ducks and 8 geese per day with triple the daily limit (or 24 of each) as a possession limit. We offer 3 day hunts (three morning and two evening shoots.) Talk to us about customizing a hunt for your group. We would be happy to help!
