About this trip
Hunt Camp is an all-inclusive, three-night introduction to axis deer hunting on 14,000 acres of working ranch land on Molokaʻi. It’s led by Josiah Ching of Bucks & Bones Outfitters, one of the island’s most experienced hunting guides. Over a Thursday-to-Sunday weekend, a small group learns the whole journey from field to table. You’ll start with a welcome dinner and an orientation on the history of axis deer on Molokaʻi and why they matter to island families. Then come range time covering firearm safety, marksmanship and ethical shot placement, and two guided hunts. Back at the ranch, you’ll learn hands-on field dressing, skinning and butchery— every cut from backstrap to grind— plus aging and cooking techniques. Saturday ends with an all-venison dinner, followed by Puʻu O Hōkū ʻawa and a fireside chat. Guests stay in our historic lodge, with its fireplace, private pool and sauna. All meals are farm to table, gun rentals are included, and you’ll take home packaged venison. No experience is needed, and keiki over 12 are welcome.
