From early August to the end of February, we offer hunts for magnificent Trophy Red Stag, ranging from Bronze to World Record Class Bulls. With no seasonal restrictions on hunting Red Deer in Texas, hunters have the flexibility to choose their preferred time for the hunt. For those seeking Red Stag in Velvet, we recommend scheduling the hunt for July or August, while after September 1st, all Big Red Stag should be hard-antlered.

We believe in offering hunters the freedom to select their preferred hunting method, whether it’s Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, Handgun, or hunting from a Blind. Our experienced guides ensure that hunters of all ages, experience levels, and physical abilities are accommodated, guaranteeing a rewarding and inclusive hunting experience.

With a vast number of Red Stag roaming our ranches, ranging from Bronze Medal 10 point Stag to Gold Medal Red Stag with 25 points and impressive crowns, hunters can expect to encounter numerous New Zealand comparable Red Stag before selecting their Trophy Red Stag. Our Red Stag hunts are available from August through February each year, providing ample opportunity for hunters to secure their prized trophy. At Texas Hunt Lodge, we are committed to delivering Trophy Red Stag hunts that rival those in Europe and New Zealand, without the need for an international airline ticket.

Monster Class Elk:

Texas Hunt Lodge stands as the premier destination for Trophy Elk Hunts. From mid-August to the end of February, we offer hunts for Big Trophy Elk Bulls. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting Elk in Texas, so if you desire an Elk Bull in Velvet, we recommend coming in August; otherwise, after September 1st, all our Big Elk should be hard-antlered.

We believe in letting our hunters choose the method of hunting Texas Trophy Elk that suits them best. Options include Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, Handgun, as well as hunting from a Blind. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level, including those with physical disabilities. Our preferred method is Safari Style, allowing us to cover more ground efficiently, although we occasionally opt for sitting at a waterhole, waiting for the big bulls to arrive for a drink.

The Trophy Elk available on our Texas Hill Country Ranches range from 6X6 Bulls in the 300-inch range up to World Record Class Elk Bulls exceeding 500 inches SCI or B&C. Most of these Rocky Mountain Elk boast genetics introduced to Texas generations ago, rendering them genetically and physically superior to Elk found elsewhere in Texas or New Mexico. A typical Elk yields around 300 lbs of meat at the processor. Texas Hunt Lodge holds multiple World Records for Elk Hunts.

We recommend scheduling hunts from late August through December, and in some years, extending into February. Our hunters have the flexibility to select their preferred hunting method, whether it’s Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, Handgun, or hunting from a Blind. We cater to hunters of all ages and experience levels, including those with physical disabilities or who may be confined to a wheelchair.

Through our Fallow Breeding Programs, we have access to exceptional Monster Hungarian Fallow, ensuring that your trophy has the potential to rank among the top entries in the SCI and Trophy Game Records of the World records books. Additionally, upon request, we can score your Fallow Deer Trophy and enter it on your behalf for Awards Banquets at SCI, TGR, and HSC.

For those interested in the culinary delights, fallow venison makes for an excellent meal. The meat is not only flavorful but also ranks among the top three best tasting exotics to eat. Late August through the end of October offers the best opportunity to hunt Fallow Deer, as our Big Fallow Bucks will be hard-horned and in prime condition. Join us for the chance to pursue some of the Biggest Fallow Deer in the World and create unforgettable hunting memories.

Trophy or Gold Medal Axis:

At Texas Hunt Lodge, we pride ourselves on offering some of the most impressive Trophy Axis Bucks for hunters to pursue. Our hunting grounds in Kerr County are renowned for producing some of the largest Axis Deer in the world, and we maintain a year-round hunting schedule with no seasonal restrictions on Axis Deer hunts in Texas.

We have a proven track record of success in hunting Big Trophy Axis Deer, and our experienced guides will ensure that you have ample opportunities to spot and stalk these magnificent animals before taking your shot. Whether you prefer bow hunting, rifle hunting, black powder, handgun, or even Safari Style hunting, we tailor our approach to accommodate hunters of all ages, skill levels, and physical abilities.

The Trophy Axis Deer we hunt typically boast main beams in the impressive 30-32 inch range, with some rare specimens featuring 8-point Non-Typical racks or reaching lengths of 35 inches or more, earning them the designation of “Record Axis Deer.” These exceptional animals are exclusive to Kerr County, and we have proudly produced some of the largest Axis Deer in the world. Many of our trophy Axis Deer are expected to break records with organizations such as Trophy Game Records (TGR) and Safari Club International (SCI) this year.

For the best hunting experience, we recommend scheduling your Axis Deer hunt between May and the end of September, when 90% of our Big Axis Bucks are hard-horned and at their prime. This ensures optimal hunting conditions and the opportunity to harvest a truly exceptional Trophy Axis Deer. Our hunters can take advantage of high-quality camouflage gear, well-placed blinds, and expert tracking techniques to enhance their chances of success in diverse terrain. We ensure all necessary permits and licenses are in order, providing a seamless hunting experience.

Rules

Animal Skinning Policy:

  • Our guides will skin your animal for a Shoulder Mount, Pedestal Mount or Rug. Our guides do not take the capes off the skull. If you require life-size or half life-size skinning, or need the cape taken off the skull, we will call our taxidermists to skin the animal appropriately. In this case, a small skinning fee is added to the invoice typically in the $25-$50 range per animal.

  • If you want to have your cape expedited/shipped, we will have our taxidermists flesh and salt the capes, then ship when dry. Keep in mind that they do need to dry and typically are not available to take home with you right away salted.

Meat Processing Options:

  • The majority of our clients use Bernhard’s Meat Processing in Ingram, TX for their meat processing. Bernhard’s has been in Business for over 60 years and is one of the most trusted wild game meat processors in the State. Bernhard’s Website and Meat Processing Options can be found online here: http://www.bernhardmeat.com/deerpro1.htm

  • Meat Processing times will vary with the size of the animal. Whitetail, Hogs, African Game will typically hang for 7 days, then processed exactly how you order (2 steaks to a package, 1lb Burger packaging with beef fat or brisket, etc.) Sausage and other cured products will take a bit longer as there are more steps to the process.

  • Bernhard’s Meat Processing ships Nationwide either via FedEx 2nd day or Refrigerated Freight (you typically need at least 300 lbs. of meat for Freight and have shipped to a business address).

  • Alternatively, we can quarter your animals and put them in a cooler so you can take them home with you with the exception of Buffalo and Elk. Buffalo and Elk must go to the Meat Processor for skinning and Quartering due to the size of the animal (there will be a charge for this typically in the $200 range per animal)

  • Our guides only Skin for Rug or Shoulder/Pedestal mount and Quarter the animals…we do not break down the muscle groups or take off the bone. We will hang these quarters in our Walk-in Cooler at the lodge and help you load when you are ready. Please keep in mind the time of year for this process…if it is 90 degrees outside time is of the essence and it may be best to go strait to the processor.
