The Hunt

Hunters can expect spreads consisting of approximately 1,500–2,000+ full-body decoys positioned in proven migration and feeding areas.

Depending on weather and current bird movement, hunts may take place over grain fields or water, with guides adjusting locations and setups as the migration progresses north.

Groups hunt from heated pit blinds, providing a comfortable base during the unpredictable Nebraska spring. From cold mornings and strong north winds to warmer afternoons that send birds pushing hard toward the breeding grounds, conditions can change rapidly.

What to Bring

Spring weather in Nebraska can change dramatically throughout a hunt. Hunters should prepare for cold mornings, wind, precipitation, mud, and warmer afternoon conditions.

Recommended gear includes:

• 12- or 20-gauge shotgun
• Blind bag

Travel

Traveling hunters can fly into Eppley Airfield in Omaha (OMA) or Lincoln Airport (LNK) before continuing to the hunting area.
