Mule Deer & Whitetail Deer Hunts with 157 Outfitters
Experience Wyoming Deer Hunting at Its Finest
157 Outfitters offers fully guided deer hunts for both mule deer and whitetail across Southeastern Wyoming, providing a well-rounded Western hunting experience with strong opportunity and consistent success.
These hunts take place on private ranches managed for age class, allowing for low-pressure conditions and frequent encounters with mature bucks. Whether you’re looking to spot and stalk mule deer in open country or sit the rut for whitetails along river bottoms, this program is designed to adapt to your goals.
Both mule deer and whitetail tags in this area are historically drawn with one preference point or less, making this an accessible and highly attractive hunt year after year.
Hunt Overview
General Season (October 1 – 14)
During this early-season window, hunters can pursue either mule deer or whitetail on a general tag. Mule deer hunts are primarily conducted using a spot-and-stalk approach across sage flats, sandhills, and rocky terrain. Whitetail opportunities are also available, though this period takes place prior to the rut.
Whitetail Rut Hunts (October – November)
For hunters focused on whitetail, the later portion of the season offers excellent opportunity during the pre-rut and rut. Hunts take place in river bottoms and transition corridors, using a combination of ground blinds and spot-and-stalk tactics. It’s common to see multiple mature bucks in a single day during peak movement.
Hunting Style
- Mule Deer: Spot & stalk in open terrain (sage flats, sandhills, rocky country)
- Whitetail: Ground blinds and spot-and-stalk in river bottoms and feeding corridors
- Weapon: Rifle hunts
- Land Access: 100% private ranches with minimal pressure
Extensive preseason scouting ensures that guides have target animals located prior to your arrival, giving you a strong advantage from day one.
Trophy Quality
This region consistently produces quality deer across both species:
- Mule Deer: Typically 135" – 165", with larger bucks occasionally taken
- Whitetail: Generally 125" – 150", with 160"+ bucks harvested each season
Our management practices focus on age structure and sustainability, ensuring continued opportunity at mature animals.

We are a licensed Wyoming Outfitter offering hunts for Waterfowl, Antelope, Whitetail, Mule Deer, Elk and Turkeys.
For waterfowl we believe in quality over quantity. We run limited groups of hunters on quality fields to make sure that pressure is kept to a minimum. We are also the only outfit that provides everything you need for a successful hunt. No need to worry about booking hotels, checking guns or finding ammo before your trip. At the end of the day all the birds are taken whole, processed, vacuum packed and returned to you so that you can enjoy the hunt and not worry about the headache of trying to stay legal cleaning federal migratory birds. We also run the biggest spreads in the area, oftentimes running over 1,000 decoys. 157 Outfitters operates in the North Platte River valley in Southeast Wyoming. During the migration the river valley holds hundreds of thousands of ducks and geese. The warm water sloughs of the North Platte hold birds for the entirety of the season as they roost on the river and feed in corn and hay fields during the day. We run hunts from the first of December until the close of the season. Hunts will primarily be tailored for geese however ducks will be targeted if the correct conditions are present. Hunts will usually take place in heated underground pits placed in fields that accommodate up to 5 hunters at a time. We also offer opportunities to hunt the North Platte River itself during the first half of December.
