About this trip
Nearshore Fishing Charter
Head beyond the protected waters of Tampa Bay and into the Gulf of Mexico with Captain Bryan Foley on a private nearshore fishing charter. These trips are designed for anglers who want to experience Florida's Gulf fishery while remaining within approximately nine miles of shore.
Depending on the season, weather, and current fishing conditions, Captain Bryan may target nearshore wrecks, hardbottom, ledges, reefs, and other productive structure that attracts a wide variety of fish.
Potential target species include mangrove snapper, grouper, kingfish, Spanish mackerel, cobia, hogfish, tripletail, permit, bonito, and other seasonal Gulf species. Because Florida's nearshore fishery changes throughout the year, every trip is built around what is providing the best opportunity at the time.
Fall can bring fast-paced action as migrating kingfish and Spanish mackerel move through the area. During calm winter conditions, Captain Bryan can head farther into the Gulf to work structure for snapper, grouper, cobia, hogfish, and other bottom and nearshore species. Spring brings warming water and increased activity from kingfish, mackerel, cobia, bonito, and other migrating fish, while summer provides opportunities for snapper, cobia, hogfish, tripletail, permit, and more.
Different fishing techniques may be used depending on the target species and conditions, including trolling, chumming, live-bait fishing, casting, and working natural or artificial baits around structure.
Trips are run aboard a 23-foot Hanson tower boat equipped with a large livewell, trolling motor, dual Power-Pole anchors, rod storage, safety equipment, and the tackle needed to take advantage of Tampa Bay and Gulf fishing conditions.
