About this trip
Virgin Creek Outfitters | South Dakota Tribal & State Lands
3-Day Guided Pronghorn Hunt
Few hunts showcase the scale of Western South Dakota quite like chasing pronghorn across the open prairie.
Virgin Creek Outfitters' South Dakota antelope hunts put hunters in expansive grasslands, rolling prairie, broken draws and wide-open country where quality optics, patience and a well-planned stalk make all the difference.
This is classic Western spot-and-stalk hunting. We'll spend time covering country and glassing from strategic vantage points, looking over groups of antelope and evaluating bucks before deciding when and how to make our move.
Once we locate the right buck, the hunt changes quickly. With eyesight built for surviving on open ground, pronghorn don't give hunters many opportunities to make mistakes. Using draws, hills, creek systems and whatever terrain the prairie gives us, we'll work to close the distance and create a quality shot opportunity.
How We Hunt
Our antelope hunts are built around mobility and glassing. Conditions dictate the strategy, but hunters should expect to spend significant time behind binoculars and spotting scopes.
Depending on the day, we may:
- Glass large sections of open prairie
- Cover country looking for mature bucks
- Pattern watering, feeding and travel areas
- Use draws and rolling terrain to conceal a stalk
- Relocate as antelope movement changes
- Make longer spot-and-stalk approaches once the right buck is located
The country may look open from a distance, but once you're on the ground, small changes in elevation can become the difference between getting within range and watching a buck disappear over the horizon.

Licensing & Hunt Area
Virgin Creek Outfitters hunts opportunities associated with the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation region as well as applicable South Dakota state-licensed ground, depending on the hunt, tag and land status.
The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and State of South Dakota maintain separate hunting regulations and licensing systems. Exact hunt dates, tag requirements and the land available to hunt will depend on the license being used.
Hunters should confirm their specific licensing requirements and hunt area with Virgin Creek Outfitters when booking.
What to Bring
