Our experienced guides cater to hunters of all ages, experience levels, and physical abilities.

During your hunt with us, you can expect to encounter a remarkable sight of 20-50 Buffalo Bulls and Bison Cows. Our Record Class Buffalo bulls typically weigh between 1200 and 1500 pounds, with horns spanning the impressive 17-20 inch range. Recent hunts have resulted in the harvest of some remarkable Buffalo World Record Trophies.

In America, the Bison is commonly referred to as Buffalo. The only two types of Bison which exist today are the American Bison and European Bison. The Buffalo is the largest terrestrial mammal in North America and Europe today. Both species were hunted to near extinction during the 19th and 20th centuries but have since rebounded due to game and food management ranches throughout the United States. The experience of hiding in camouflage while observing wildlife enhances the excitement of the hunt.

The Buffalo has a dark brown coat that is dense and wooly around the neck and shoulders. Buffalo stand about 6 ½ feet tall at the shoulder and can grow as much as 11½ feet long. They Buffalo can weigh up to 2200 lbs.

Bison are born without their hump, or horns, and grow into maturity at 2-3 years of age. They will continue to put on mass until around 7 years of age, and can live for upwards of 20 years. Both male and female Buffalo have horns, though when they are born, they have only buttons.

Broke Horn Scimtar:

We offer a variety of hunting methods for Scimitar Oryx, allowing hunters to choose their preferred approach. The Scimitar Horned Oryx available for hunting range from Bulls to Cows, with horn lengths typically spanning from 30 to 45 inches and weighing over 400 lbs. Texas Hunt Lodge boasts multiple ranches where hunters can pursue these remarkable animals, with some ranches featuring older Scimitar Oryx with horn lengths exceeding 40 inches, presenting the opportunity for potential World Records. Over the years, Texas Hunt Lodge has proudly facilitated the harvest of (2) new World Record Eland, showcasing the exceptional quality of trophies available on our ranches. The Eland Bulls you’ll encounter during our hunts typically boast impressive horns ranging from 30 to 35 inches and weigh over 1000 lbs.

Distinguishable by their white stripes, Livingston Eland offer a unique hunting experience compared to the Common Eland, which lack these markings. Rest assured, we typically have both species available on our ranches, ensuring a diverse and rewarding hunting experience for our clients. Join us at Texas Hunt Lodge for an unforgettable Eland hunting expedition and the opportunity to harvest a trophy that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Axis Doe:

Texas Hunt Lodge hunts only Axis Doe in conjunction with a trophy hunt. We do not book hunts for only Axis Doe. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Axis Deer in Texas, which makes it a suitable hunt any time of the year.

Hunters of Axis Doe can either choose the Spot and Stalk method, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, or Handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level, as well as hunters which have disabilities.

Axis Cull:

The Axis Deer is considered to be the most beautiful of deer, with a bright reddish coat marked with rows of white spots. Introduced to Texas in the 1930s from the Indian subcontinent, the Axis deer now resides in over 45 counties around Texas. Its antlers, which it sheds annually, are usually three-pronged and curve in a lyre shape. Antlers are most often in the 20″ range. Antlers in the 30″ range are considered excellent trophies, and if they reach 36″ they are exceptional Axis Trophy Deer. The world record occurred in India and is 41″. Males can weigh up to 200 lbs and females around 120.

You will generally see Axis female deer traveling with their offspring in small herds, but occasionally there will be a herd of Axis male deer wandering together. This breed is usually out during the day, with their greatest activity just hours after dawn and before sunset. Another feature of the axis is that, being a tropical deer, they do not follow a seasonal rut. Axis Bucks can be found in hard horn and in velvet at the same time any time in the year, which also means that fawning can occur in any month.

There are no restrictions on hunting the Axis Deer in Texas, which makes it a suitable trophy year-round. The meat is also tasty and does not have the strong gamey flavor that venison most often has. Axis meat is also 99.8% fat-free – making it the leanest meat of any mammal, and in our expert opinion, the best venison in the world. Our hunters utilize archery, scope-enhanced rifles, and specific ammunition tailored for these hunts to ensure effective and humane harvesting of these magnificent deer.

Trophy Watusi:

Texas Hunt Lodge offers the opportunity to hunt and harvest a Trophy Watusi that you’ll want to hang on your wall. Originating from Africa, the Watusi is known for its distinctive large horns and striking appearance. Year round, we offer hunts for awesome Trophy Watusi. There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting the Watusi in Texas, making it a suitable trophy year round.

We typically let our hunters choose the method of hunting Trophy Watusi that they prefer. Hunters can opt for the Spot and Stalk method, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, Handgun, as well as hunting from a Blind. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.

Texas Hunt Lodge currently has access to the World’s Largest Watusi and can score your Record Watusi with the Trophy Game Records of the World during your trip.
