Experience Montana’s Late-Season Waterfowl Like Few Ever Do

Broken Plains Outfitting Company offers true Montana waterfowl hunting — raw, rugged, and real. This is not a heated pit blind experience — you’ll be hunting in Montana’s real winter elements, targeting ducks and geese in their natural habitat along the river and surrounding waters.

We hunt mostly over water, using natural blinds, panel blinds, and A-frames, with layout blinds available when conditions allow. Early December and November hunts offer mixed bag opportunities, while late-season hunts are driven by brutal winter storms and frozen landscapes that push massive numbers of birds into the river system.

With 13 miles of private Missouri River access, Broken Plains has a huge advantage when the rest of the state locks up. As small water freezes, birds pile onto the river and surrounding reservoirs, creating some of the most consistent late-season waterfowl hunting in Montana.

Guided by Broken Plains Outfitting Company
Joined in November 2025

Broken Plains Outfitting Company is rooted in the rugged landscapes of the Upper Missouri River Breaks of Central Montana, where wild country, honest hunting, and hard-earned success define every experience we offer. Our operation is built around providing authentic, no-frills hunts on quality ground, with a strong emphasis on wild animals, ethical practices, and respect for the land.

In Montana, we specialize in guided waterfowl, upland bird, mule deer, and Merriam’s turkey hunts, operating across diverse terrain that ranges from river bottoms and coulees to open prairie and mountain foothills. We focus on private-land access, limited hunting pressure, and hunt styles that reflect how these species are meant to be pursued—whether that’s late-season ducks on the river, wild upland birds over pointing dogs, or spot-and-stalk deer and turkey hunts in big country.

Beyond Montana, Broken Plains also offers bowfishing adventures during the spring and summer months in both the Florida Panhandle and upstate New York, giving our clients year-round opportunities to stay on the water and in the field.

At our core, Broken Plains Outfitting Company exists to deliver real experiences for hunters and anglers who value wild places, honest effort, and doing things the right way. Whether you’re chasing birds in Montana or bowfishing in Florida, we aim to provide trips that are memorable, ethical, and true to the traditions of the outdoors.
