About
Minnesota Early Season Canada Goose Hunts
Location: Palisade, Minnesota
Season: September 6 – 21, 2025
Hosted by: Jim Bebo & the Palisade Flats Team
Start the Season Off Right
Minnesota’s Early Canada Goose Season is where waterfowl hunters shake off the summer dust and get back into the blind. At Palisade Flats, this is one of the most exciting times of year—when local giant Canadas are patterned, food is abundant, and mornings are crisp and full of honking birds. Running September 6–21, this season gives hunters a unique chance to target the resident goose population before the northern migration begins, with a generous five-bird daily limit and a bonus teal season for the first five days.
With over 4,000 acres of intensely managed habitat north of Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Palisade Flats offers prime goose hunting over flooded rice, Japanese millet, corn impoundments, and freshly scouted feeding fields. Our guide team, led by Dusty Mahn and “Duck Bob” Miller, works tirelessly to find the best fields each day, set picture-perfect spreads, and run world-class calls to finish birds in close. Expect big flocks, plenty of calling, and memorable mornings with small private groups.
A Full-Service Experience
Your hunt includes more than just a blind seat. Guests stay in the Grandview Lodge, a modern 8-bedroom, 4-bath retreat designed for comfort. Each hunter has their own private bedroom, and the lodge includes a commercial kitchen, laundry facilities, a deck overlooking the property, and a spacious common area perfect for relaxing after the hunt. Meals are prepared daily by Chef Christian, whose global culinary background makes every dinner an event, from hearty brunches to impressive suppers paired with wine and appetizers.
After dinner, guests are welcome at Mallard Lodge, where the main bar, pool tables, duck-hunting video game, and big-screen TV keep the good times rolling. Whether you’re swapping stories or planning tomorrow’s strategy with the guides, you’ll feel right at home.
