About this trip
This includes all meals, drinks, lodging, guides, dogs, ammo, and a gun if you need one. We also usually have some good bourbon waiting at the bar. We don’t charge for the day you arrive or the day you depart—only the days you hunt.
What makes Pineridge special is our focus. We’re 100% dedicated to wild grouse and woodcock, good dogs, and doing things the right way. We don’t try to be everything to everyone—this is a traditional upland camp built around the birds, the dogs, and the experience that comes with hunting them honestly.
Guests are always welcome to bring their own dogs. Many of our hunters enjoy putting their dogs on wild birds, and we’ll hunt your dog as much as you’d like, filling in with our guide dogs when needed.

What to bring
NECESSITIES
Footwear
Boots are essential. Waterproof leather hunting boots are ideal for most conditions. If you’re driving, we also recommend bringing rubber boots—they often come in handy around camp and in wet cover.
Eye Protection
Thick cover is common in grouse country, making eye protection a must. Quality shooting or safety glasses will help protect your eyes while moving through dense brush.
Brush Pants or Chaps
Grouse habitat can be tough, with briars and thorns throughout. Brush pants or chaps will make navigating this terrain far more comfortable.
Clothing
Minnesota weather can change quickly. Pack layers, including long-sleeve t-shirts and durable shooting shirts. Be sure to check the Pineridge Grouse Camp homepage for current weather conditions before your trip.
Outerwear
A blaze orange hunting vest or shooting jacket is required and should be built for dense cover. Lightweight jackets or trapshooting vests are often not durable enough. A blaze orange hat is also required by Minnesota state law.

Ticks
Ticks are a reality in the Northwoods, and Lyme disease is a concern. Please take precautions:
Repel Permethrin spray is available in all cabins.
Consider treating your clothing before the season.
Always check yourself after returning to camp.
Personal Items
A good cigar by the fire and some music are the perfect way to end a successful day in the field. Beyond that, Pineridge takes care of the rest.
BRINGING YOUR OWN DOG
Dogs are more than welcome at Pineridge Grouse Camp.
Please bring:
A copy of your dog’s health certificate showing up-to-date vaccinations
Familiar equipment such as leads and e-collars (some equipment is available at camp if needed)
Our guide dogs are trained grouse and woodcock specialists. If your dog is less experienced, patience goes a long way. We’re happy to alternate between your dog and our guides to ensure an enjoyable and productive hunt.
GUNS AND AMMUNITION
Double guns are the only recommended choice for grouse and woodcock hunting at Pineridge. They aren’t just traditional—they’re safer, especially when crossing creeks or retrieving birds.
Ammunition is provided as part of our all-inclusive package. We stock a variety of gauges and shot sizes (7½, 8, and 9), depending on the season.
