OAC Maine Whitetail Deer Hunts

About
Maine has a rich and storied tradition of deer hunting, dating back to the 1800s. During this era, Maine was renowned as a prime deer hunting destination, particularly in the Northeast, where giant whitetails were sought after. It is not uncommon to find whitetails weighing over 300 lbs. (live weight) in Maine.
WMD 17 boasts the highest buck harvest in the state, with an impressive 150 bucks per square mile. On the other hand, WMD 14 has a buck harvest of 50 per square mile, with a lower resident population of just 9 people per square mile. For extreme whitetail hunters, WMD 14 provides vast stretches of unbroken forest and challenging terrain to test their skills, particularly after snowfall. Regardless of the district you choose, you can expect the best that Maine has to offer in terms of deer hunting.
Whitetail hunting in Maine is not for the faint of heart, but it promises to be one of the most remarkable whitetail hunting experiences you can have in the lower 48 states. Maine is blessed with the largest continuous forest east of the Mississippi River and a hunting culture that permits hunting on all non-posted lands. The southern Maine coastal areas provide more opportunities for seasoned archers, while central and northern Maine is renowned for hunting giant whitetails in snowy conditions. Both regions require patience to achieve success. We particularly favor the coastal areas (WMD 20 & 24) for archery hunting and late-season tracking in central and northern areas. In all situations, our dedicated team of Maine Guides diligently scout the hunting areas, utilizing trail cameras when necessary, to ensure you are in the right spots to harvest that trophy buck. We provide premium ladder stands and ground blinds as needed to enhance your hunting experience.
The Sebec Lake Region is situated in the heart of Big Buck country. Maine is known for being home to one of the largest recognized subspecies of whitetails among the 30 subspecies. At the age of five, Maine whitetails can reach impressive live weights ranging from 200 to 400 lbs. (with the largest dressed buck on record weighing 355 lbs., taken in 1955 in Solon, Maine, in WMD 17).

Maine is home to the largest continuous forest in the eastern United States, stretching from the Mississippi River. With 90 percent (17.8 million acres) of its land covered in forests, Maine has the highest percentage of forested area among all the states. Within this vast expanse, the northern part of Maine encompasses 12 million acres and serves as the location for the Outdoor Adventure Company. Remarkably, Maine is the only state in the country that shares borders with Canada to the west, north, and east, earning it the nickname "the Big Woods" due to its size.
The Outdoor Adventure Company has leased over 30,000 acres specifically dedicated to bear hunting and enjoys access to the entire 3.5 million-acre Maine North Woods during Moose, Deer, and Grouse seasons. For Turkey season, our OAC team ventures into the central and southern counties, exploring secured farms and public hunting areas. Situated on the Sebec shore road with access to Sebec Lake, our 700-acre base camp and farm in Guilford, Maine provide a central hub for our operations.
At the Outdoor Adventure Company, our dedicated team is committed to ensuring an exceptional hunting and lodging experience in the vast and majestic Big Woods of Maine.
