Hunt Trophy-Class Elk on Exclusive Private Land in Colorado’s San Luis Valley
BBB Outfitters offers premier private-land elk hunts across over 34,000 acres in the San Luis Valley, centered around the productive GMU 82. This region sits along the western base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, providing ideal habitat including irrigated hay fields, sage flats, creek bottoms, and foothill benches that elk use throughout the season.
These hunts are conducted using exclusive private landowner vouchers — meaning no draw requirements and zero public-land pressure on the ranches we hunt. By limiting hunter numbers and maintaining high-quality habitat, BBB Outfitters carries an exceptional 89% opportunity rate, with bulls commonly ranging 270"–300" class, with the potential for mature bulls above this range.
Hunters will access a diverse set of private ranches that include:
- Hay and alfalfa pivots used heavily at dawn and dusk
- Sagebrush and transitional ground between feed and bedding
- Creek-bottom staging areas
- Low ridges and foothill edges offering quiet travel corridors
Hunt Schedule & Timeline
- Arrival: Sunday afternoon
- Hunt Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (4 full hunting days)

BBB Outfitters is located in Colorado’s San Luis Valley. Nestled between the San Juan, Saguache, and Sangre de Cristo mountain ranges. Sitting at 7,800 ft, this high mountain valley is home to the Alamosa, Monte Vista, and Baca national wildlife Refuges, and the Great Sand Dunes National Park. These areas provide optimal habitat for both elk and waterfowl. The valley is also abundant with warm water ponds and sloughs. These help hold birds all season when the temperature plumets below zero. Rye, Barley, and alfalfa are the main crops that our geese and ducks target. In addition to the San Luis Valley, BBB offers hunts on the western slope of Colorado. This agriculture rich area is full of corn and alfalfa fields. Perfect for holding large amounts of waterfowl.
