About

Wild West Sportfishing is dedicated to connecting marine adventure seekers on the water with experienced guides in the industry on Vancouver Island.

Whether it’s saltwater fishing, whale & wildlife watching, or adventuring up remote inlets to catch a glimpse of some of the most beautiful scenery on earth; we have the guide for you.

The mighty Fraser and Columbia Rivers as well as many other local Rivers provide anglers with the opportunity to fish the most plentiful Salmon runs in the world. The Strait of Georgia, also known as the Northern Salish Sea, offers EAST COAST Vancouver Island or INSIDE trips specialize in targeting the legendary Chinook and Coho salmon runs that migrate through Vancouver Island waters every summer. In Comox and Campbell River we provide the best and most accessible opportunities for "Feeder" Chinook Salmon year round out of any area on the coast . These fish are feeding year round on local herring and krill stocks and are know to be the best eating salmon around.

Setting traps for Spot Prawn, shrimp and crab are add-on options and many by-catch species are available while fishing salmon on these inside trips including Grey Cod, Ling Cod, Pacific Hake, Rock fish and very occasionally a Halibut. The water conditions on These Inside trips general quiet calm, sometimes its a bite choppy. Therefore they are a great option for families with children, the elderly, those with injuries and those susceptible to motion sickness. It is a rare to have a sea sick passenger on these Charters.

For targeted bottom fishing we offer WEST COAST Vancouver Island or OUTSIDE trips that run as muti-day packages including accommodation at remote fishing lodges and towns. These west coast trips provide a full access experience to all that BC Saltwater fishing has to offer. The mighty Halibut, Ling Cod, Rockfish are the main bottom fish targeted on these trips. Chinook and Coho are the main salmon species targeted. Most often both Salmon and Bottom species can be targeted on the same day. 3 and 4 day packages are offered for these experiences with the goal to provide limits of the target species. No guarantees but high percentages of these clients go home with limits or near limits, fair weather being the most contributing factor. West coast waters are rugged and much rougher that east coast waters. Large swells and wind waves are a daily occurrence, sea sickness is common for beginners so be prepared an use anti seasickness medications and wrist bands if necessary. The 1st day can be challenging but most clients get over their seasickness on the 2nd day. Therefore we do not recommend these trips for families with children, the elderly, those with serious injuries or those that are susceptible to motion sickness in general.

Sight seeing and Wildlife viewing opportunities are breath taking. Humpback Whales, seals, sealions, eagles and many other sea bird sightings are a daily occurrence in The Salish sea during summer months. Orca sightings are common. Our inlet tours offer a spectacular wilderness experience featuring glacial mountain views with water falls cascading hundreds of feet into the ocean. We provide Opportunities to day hike to pristine remote lakes, as well as remote camping with water taxi services.

Bear watching is best in early Spring or Late summer in to the fall. Peak Grizzly Bear watching season runs from August 15th to October 15th. There is no better place on earth to have an opportunity to see Orca, Humpback Whales and Grizzly on the same day on our Bute and Toba inlet Tours.
