We’re offering 3-day pheasant hunts for groups of 5 to 10 hunters, with additional options available for custom group sizes. Whether you're bringing your crew or planning something special, we’ve got you covered.

Rules
- Youth‑only season for hunters ages 12–17 (with valid hunter‑safety certificate and adult supervision), typically in early October
- 3‑Day Resident Season immediately following youth season—only for South Dakota residents
- Regular Season (resident & non‑resident), October 18th through January 31
- Shooting hours are 10 a.m. to sunset, Central Time
- Must purchase a Resident Small Game License ($36) or a Resident Combination License ($60)
- Residents under 18 use the Youth Small Game License ($5)
- Require Non‑Resident Small Game License ($142)—valid for two 5‑day periods, which must be selected when purchasing. Can buy multiple licenses for more days
- Non‑resident youth (12–17) pay $10 for a similar license
- A separate Shooting Preserve License is needed only if hunting on licensed preserves (We are not a preserve)
- Required on your first qualifying license of the year:
- $10 for residents
- $25 for non‑residents
- Anyone born after 1977 must carry a Hunter Safety Card. Youth need one regardless of age
- Daily bag limit: 3 rooster pheasants per hunter
- Possession limit:
- Residents: Up to 9 roosters (3/day for 3 days)
- Non‑residents: Up to 15 birds (3/day during license validity periods)
- No limit on shotgun magazine capacity for pheasant hunting. Shell‑limit restrictions apply only to migratory birds
- Dogs must be rabies vaccinated. If staying more than 30 days, a health certificate is also required
- Private and public lands are open, except specific refuges noted by GFP.
- Hunting along road right‑of‑ways is prohibited unless it’s adjacent to public lands
- Purchase via the Go Outdoors SD website or mobile app.
- Also available from 400+ licensed agents (e.g., sporting goods stores, gas stations)
- License may be carried physically or as an app screenshot

- 3‑Day Resident Season: ~Oct 11–13, 2025
- Regular Season: Oct 18, 2025 – Jan 31, 2026
