About this trip
Ever dreamed of fishing with a rod that is 100% yours? Step into the Captain’s Quarters at the RFA Lodge and learn the art of custom fishing rod building with Captain Tim.
Over the course of three hands-on sessions, you’ll learn how to design, build, customize, and repair your own fishing rod—and the only real limit is your imagination.
Want your rod in your favorite sports team’s colors? Your favorite band’s colors? A color scheme that matches your boat? Your business logo? Your personal style? We’ll help turn your idea into a fishing rod that is as unique as you are.
Fly rods. Spinning rods. Casting rods. Ice fishing rods. Offshore rigs. Gaffs. Custom fishing accessories. If you can imagine it, we can figure out how to build it.
🎣 More Than a Class—It’s a Captain’s Quarters ExperienceRod building classes are generally spread over 3 days, approximately 3 hours per session, giving you time to learn the techniques, work at your own pace, and actually enjoy the process.
While you build, kick back in the Captain’s Quarters with:
- 🌴 Waterfront views at the RFA Lodge
- 🍺 A frosty beverage
- 🎶 Your favorite music
- 🏈 The big game on the big screen
- 🎣 Stories, fishing talk, and plenty of Captain Tim
- 🔧 Hands-on instruction in rod building and repair
You’ll learn the fundamentals of rod design, component selection, guide placement, wrapping, finishing, repair techniques, and customization—skills you can take with you long after the class is over.
And when you’re finished, you won’t just have a new fishing rod.
You’ll have a rod you built yourself.
Come hang out with Captain Tim, learn a new skill, enjoy the waterfront, and build something you’ll be proud to take fishing for years to come.
Your imagination sets the limits. Your hands build the rest.
🎣 Ready to Build Your Own?Bring your ideas, your favorite colors, and your fishing dreams. We’ll bring the tools, knowledge, and a little Captain’s Quarters magic.
