Hunting snow geese can be a great way to support conservation efforts and enjoy a delicious and sustainable source of protein. If you're lucky enough to have a large harvest of snow geese, one great way to preserve the meat is by making jerky. Not only is jerky a delicious and healthy snack, it's also convenient to take with you on outdoor adventures.
If you're looking to make some delicious snow goose jerky, here's what you'll need:
Ingredients:
2 pounds thinly sliced snow goose meat
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
Place the sliced snow goose meat in a large resealable bag and pour the marinade over the top. Seal the bag and massage the marinade into the meat, making sure that all of the slices are coated.
Place the bag in the refrigerator and let the meat marinate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible.
Preheat your oven to 175°F or the lowest setting possible. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Remove the meat from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels. Place the slices on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and cook the jerky for about 3-4 hours, or until the jerky is dry and crisp.
Remove the jerky from the oven and let it cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
This jerky is a delicious and healthy snack that's perfect for taking with you on outdoor adventures. It's also a great way to preserve your snow goose meat and enjoy it all year round.
Overall, making jerky from freshly harvested snow goose is a great way to enjoy a delicious and healthy snack while supporting conservation efforts. Whether you're enjoying it at home or taking it with you on your next outdoor adventure, jerky is a tasty and convenient option.
